❋ Diversity Writing

What makes you unique? How are we each different? What does diversity mean to you? These are just a few of the writing prompts used in this workshop. The most popular are Black History and Women’s History Month classes.

Write Your Own Spoken Word "Name Rap!" Students will jump into the exciting world of spoken word by creating a personalized rap that celebrates who they are! Through high-energy improv games like "5 Things" and "Word Ball," students will loosen up, think on their feet, spark their creativity, and overcome stage fright in a fun, supportive environment. Next, they'll discover how easy writing can be using the classic improv technique "Yes, And..." Beginning with a simple topic, students build their poems one line at a time by adding "Yes, And..." details, turning spontaneous ideas into original spoken word poetry while learning that there are no wrong answers in the creative process.
